How battery backup works

Grid-loss detection and critical-load transfer are designed around the selected inverter, transfer equipment and site requirements.

    Grid monitoring

    Compatible inverter and transfer equipment monitor the grid conditions defined in the approved backup design.

    Outage detected

    On grid loss, the selected transfer architecture isolates and supplies the approved critical-load circuit. Transfer time is confirmed for the final equipment and wiring design.

    Battery supplies loads

    The selected power-conversion equipment supplies backed-up loads; supported PV charging during an outage is confirmed for the final architecture.

    Grid returns

    Where the selected architecture supports it, the system resynchronises and returns the approved loads to grid supply after recovery conditions are met.

Switchover time depends on the selected inverter, transfer equipment, firmware and site wiring. It is confirmed against the critical-load requirement before quotation and must be validated during commissioning.

How long can the system back up my site?

Backup duration is sized around the approved critical loads, state-of-charge reserve and operating limits. Any PV contribution during an outage depends on the final inverter, transfer architecture, controls and available solar conditions.

Can backup be combined with peak shaving or self-consumption?

These functions may be combined where the selected equipment, firmware, interfaces and local rules support them. The operating logic must reserve sufficient energy and power for the agreed backup duty.
